Abstract

Islands have many advantages for sheep raising. Shepherds like Peter Hagerty are realizing that the quarried-out, abandoned islands are ideal sheep environments and need neither walls nor dogs to contain flocks. Konrad Ulbrich is attempting to create an island sheep breed out of existing low-maintenance mainland breeds.
