Abstract

Professor Jack Barkley raises peregrine falcons in his Cornell University laboratory, transferring them after 3-4 weeks to nests in specially selected wild hacking locations. Mount Desert Island is one of two Maine archipelago sites. Ornithologists have also recently discovered that outer Maine islands are important feeding sites for peregrines migrating south.
