Abstract

As early as 1927, the last surviving sites for raven breeding were Maine islands. When raven, like wolves, were shot or poisoned on the mainland, they took haven on islands like Monhegan and Southern Island and have remained a fixture since. Includes five Jamie Wyeth paintings.
