Abstract

At a weeklong CREST (Community for Rural Education Stewardship and Technology) institute held at the Darling Marine Center last summer, students from 11 Maine schools trained in Web design, the use of GPS and GIS, operating a camcorder, and conducting ethnographic interviews. The program encourages students to use technology to find creative solutions for community challenges and promotes their interest in technology-related careers. With details of CREST projects conducted by students on the Maine coast.
