Abstract

North Haven's June Hopkins, who turned 90 in November 2013, relates how she came to North Haven Island from Pittsburgh as a young woman and met her future husband there. They bought his grandparents’ store, W.S. Hopkins General Store, and turned it into a gift shop which she has operated for 60 years. She talks about how in the early days, islanders and summer people were quite separate, but in the ensuing years, this distinction has blurred.
