Abstract
Rob Snyder, president of the Island Institute, writes about his experiences in traveling to local fishing communities around the world and observes that, while each community is unique, there are some shared challenges in having vibrant and sustainable economic models. He concludes that by observing each others' communities In action, and sharing successes and failures, will help create these models and not by finding the solutions solely within one's community itself.
