Abstract

"Mainebiz focus." The Department of Environmental Protection's new Voluntary Response Action Program (VRAP), cleans up pollution like that found at Meguire Hill Corp. in Portland, which had been contaminated by hydrochloric acid by Durastone Prescast Concrete Products, the former occupant of the site. The VRAP places private enterprises in partnership with the state. Brownfields Initiative of the federal Environmental Protection Agency manages potential future VRAP sites. Details.
