Governor Angus King's Blaine House Conference on Small Business drew 1100 business owners, five times more than the most recent event of its type. At least half were women. Maine's version of President Clinton's White House Conference on Small Business included seminars on state regulation, municipal taxation, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Public Utilities Commission, and women and minority businesses.
