Abstract

"Maine business and the crisis in health care." Workers comp, in the wake of the Supreme Judicial Court's Kotch decision and the legislature's related compromise, remains a conundrum. We have no way to know if Maine's comp system is more expensive than other states', because all states have unique systems. In the 1980s, Maine had a very expensive system, and premiums have declined 35 percent, but that does not mean there is room to expand benefits. Details.
