Abstract

Since January, hundreds in Maine have been willingly paying a premium for "green" power made of renewable resources from Maine Interfaith Power and Light, which is run by the Maine Green Power Connection. They attracted the attention of Competitive Energy Services, a Portland-based retail electricity supplier. However, the 10 percent premium discouraged some businesses from purchasing green power.
