Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece reporting that PSC Industrial Outsourcing, based in Portland, was recently charged with criminal violations related to a January explosion in Orrington that severely injured one of the firm's employees. Stephen Hagyari lost a hand and suffered facial injuries while placing explosives inside a boiler at Penobscot Energy Recovery Co., which had hired the firm to remove residue from inside the boiler. After an investigation, the state accused PSC of not following certain procedures and materials handling practices of the Maine's Explosive Materials Code. Company representatives were scheduled to appear in court March 26.
