Abstract

"Focus on the Midcoast" piece on Scott Tilton, 46, of Weskeag River Shellfish Farms, a South Thomaston oyster aquaculture company he started in 1999. Tilton also helped form the Fishing Industry Retraining Project, which helps fishermen find new careers. He describes his business, his location, selling shares in the community to get a start, and his continuing work with the retraining program, which helps fishermen put out of work by escalating fishing restrictions.
