Abstract

A small group of Maine businessmen fly their own planes, and Maine Aviation Corp. at the Portland Jetport is home to four or five of them. Most of the pilots admit that financially speaking, flying doesn't cost less than driving or flying commercially, but avoiding costs like hotels, gaining a federal tax advantage, and the fulfillment of flying itself makes it worthwhile. Many pilots volunteer for Angel Flights, which arranges medically necessary flights for free.
