Abstract

A look at Biddeford-based Great Works Internet (GWI), which was started in 1994 by Fletcher Kittredge and has become the largest local Internet service provider (ISP) in Maine. It was named one of the country's 500 fastest-growing companies by Inc. magazine last year, despite the fact that its growth was not underwritten by venture capital. Now Kittredge is poised to break into the N.H. market, a state that ranks second nationally in the percentage of connected households. With details on how GWI plans to compete with larger cable companies and market its product.
