Abstract

Article about the dynamic growth experienced by Gorham Savings Bank since the implementation of a new strategic plan four years ago, when the bank had total assets of $330 million, wrote $9 million in consumer loans and $8 million in commercial loans At that time the bank had ninety-on full-time employees, who staff four branches. For the bank's 2003 fiscal year that ended March 31, Gorham Savings had assets of $505 million, making it the Portland area's largest community bank. Commercial loans have jumped to $79 million, and consumer loans to $54 million. The bank now has 160 employees staffing six branches, with three additional Portland-area branches on the way. Chris Emmons, the new bank's new president, who took over in May, hopes to lead the bank's continued expansion.
