Abstract

Article discussing the fact that as the casino debate heats up, businesses are being forced to take a stand on the issue whether they want to or not. While some companies have not yet declared a positions, while a number of major Maine companies, like L. L. Bean of Freeport, Hussey Seating of North Berwick, Cianbro Corp. of Pittsfield, MBNA of Belfast, Toms of Maine, of Kennebunkport, and others declared themselves against the casino, and some of them have provided financial support to Casinos No!, which is lobbying against the referendum. A longer list of companies have declared themselves in favor of the casino, but they tend to be smaller and less well known. With lists of pro- and anti-casino businesses.
