Abstract

"Focus on Western Maine" piece featuring an interview in question-and-answer format with Bruce Hazard, director of the Farmington-based Maine Mountain Heritage Network. The network is an effort to create economic ties among communities in Oxford, Franklin, Somerset and Piscataquis counties. The group focuses on building, rather than attracting, economic opportunity by capitalizing on natural, artistic, historical and business resources native to the area. Hazard discusses the history of the network, the Mountain Heritage Area land conservation program, and tourism in the area.
