Abstract

"Building & real estate" supplement piece on Bangor-based Ames A/E Architects and Engineers, owned by Brian Ames. The firm added facilities and asset management services in 1997, when Ames added a software-based management division that largely served educational clients. The division, called Ames AM Asset Management Solutions, opened an office in Portsmouth, N.H. this April, with hopes of capturing more of the New England market. By Maine standards, Ames A/E is large, and few Maine architectural design firms have turned to asset management, though many are diversifying and expanding beyond the state. Ames A/E uses a management software program called PlannExpert, which has a multitude of applications for different clients.
