Abstract

"Building & real estate" supplement piece on the sizzling real estate market in Oxford County, where January 20003 to January 2004 sales increased by nearly 14 percent, compared to a nearly 6 percent gain statewide. New properties typically sell within weeks, often to retirees, those phased out of the Greater Portland market, or people seeking a better quality of life. The market threatens to force out area workers who compete with wealthier out-of-state buyers.
