Abstract
An article on the Bangor Parkade development, the newest addition to the Bangor Mall area. Although the number of Canadian shoppers at the mall has declined since Canada implemented a sales tax on items purchased in the U.S., Bangor is seen as a shopping hub for central and northern Maine. John Toic, vice president of Bangor Parkade Inc., says he has leased eight of the 12 commercial spaces projected for the complex, which opens next fall. With details on revenues and customers at the mall and how downtown Bangor is holding its own despite mall competition.
