Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece on Alan Hinsey, former director of the state Bureau of Labor Standards and a principal in a new firm, The Breakwater Group. Hinsey and his partner in a Rockland management consulting firm, Mike Roberts, founded the group to focus on a "knowledge-based economic development strategy" for midcoast Maine. Potential projects for the group include formation of a community college campus in the region, development of a technology incubator in the Rockland industrial park, and a focus on the creative economy. The Breakwater Group is unique in that it is a for-profit firm focusing on regional economic development.
