Abstract

"Next List" piece featuring ten people who are shaping the future of Maine's economy, with a profile of Fletcher Kittredge, 43, founder and CEO of Great Works Internet (GWI) in Biddeford, which he started in 1994 as Biddeford Internet Corporation. The company's slow and steady growth and skillful management practices have kept it competitive with big companies and made it the largest and oldest locally owned Internet service provider (ISP) in the state. Kittredge founded the Maine ISP Association, a group of a dozen small, Maine-based ISPs seeking to enhance their bargaining power by joining forces.
