Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece reporting on state treasurer Dale McCormick, 57, who is stepping down after the legal limit of four consecutive two-year terms to become head of the Maine State Housing Authority. She says her greatest accomplishment was fully automating the office, which had only one working computer when she arrived in 1998. McCormick, a Democrat, will be succeeded by Rep. David Lemoine, D-Old Orchard Beach. An Iowa native, McCormick spent years working as a carpenter and teaching others--particularly women-- how to build their own homes.
