Abstract

"Focus on Building & Real Estate" piece on the real estate forecast for 2005, developed at the annual Maine Real Estate & Development Association forecasting meeting. A strong single-family residential market is expected, with the Lewiston-Auburn area in particular "pulling away from the pack." Interest in multi-family and apartment properties will continue, and rental vacancy rates will stabilize at 5 percent to 7 percent. The vacancy rate for retail and commercial space will improve. The industrial real estate market will be challenged as it moves away from manufacturing and toward distribution and warehousing.
