Abstract

Nestle Waters North America subsidiary Poland Spring, which outgrew its Poland plant and built a new plant in Hollis in 2000, is now considering building a plant in Kingfield, despite the town's distance from Poland Springs' New York and Boston markets. Variables include whether a Kingfield spring can be sustainably tapped without depleting the town's water supply, residents' response to increased truck traffic, and whether a proposed statewide bottled-water tax bill passes, which would kill the project.
