Abstract
Since the state legislature passed Med '94, which restricts Medicaid nursing home admissions, 22 Maine nursing facilities are on the brink of bankruptcy or foreclosure. The last legislative session passed Med '96, which makes exemptions for Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive disfunctions, but the plan to keep people out of nursing homes still does not adequately protect people already in them.
