Abstract

"Perspectives" piece by Carolyn Manson, public affairs manager of the Maine Tourism Association in Augusta, on her opposition to raising the 7 percent meals and lodging tax. This would increase the already high cost of doing business in Maine and dampen tourism. Maine ranks 38th among vacation destinations in the U.S., and the state continues to lose market share.
