Abstract

"Compass Points" piece on the large number of high-achieving Maine high school graduates who head off to college in other states, noting that a well-funded higher education system would help Maine compete in the global economy. Adequate funding for the University of Maine would not only keep great students in state, but would also provide value-added skills to Maine residents who require continuing education throughout their lives.
