Abstract

"From the Ground Up" piece commenting on the findings of the Maine Economic Research Institute's 2005 Senior Management Survey. Ninety-four percent of Maine business leaders said they consider the state's overall business climate poorer than in other states and Canada. The report offered some positive news for the state's vocational/technical education system as well as the construction industry. To improve the results of the next survey, the business community should partner with Maine's educational institutions, invest in employee development programs and collaborate to drive pro-business initiatives.
