Abstract

"Focus: Environment" piece on carbon neutrality, featuring a commentary by John Deans, a third-year student at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. Carbon neutrality means adopting new practices so that your business operations do not contribute to a net increase in the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. Last year, the College of the Atlantic and the Bangor Theological Seminary announced carbon neutral programs to mitigate their energy use. Although being carbon neutral is currently an added expense, Deans notes that businesses can find branding and marketing benefits in the practice.
