Abstract

"From the Ground Up" piece on the public partnership trend in the commercial construction industry, in which contractors seek community input on projects. The Maine Turnpike Authority pioneered this approach when it chose to embrace public input on its second effort to widen the turnpike. Recent projects by Ledgewood Construction of Portland and Augusta-based Bridgecorp are successful examples of constructor/community partnering.
