Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece giving the perspective of Dan Innis, dean of the University of Maine School of Business and Health Policy, who affirms the health of Maine's economy. From 1999 to 2004, jobs grew by 4.7 percent, the 15th best in the nation. The gross state product grew 10.4 percent, the 19th best in the nation. Maine ranked 48th for growth in new business from 1998 to 2003, but more recent figures show growth is increasing.
