Abstract

"Focus: Augusta-Waterville Region" piece on the future of the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA), with a focus on how UMA will develop after the likely failure of a proposed merger with the University of Southern Maine (USM). Rather than merging the schools, a task force recommended a possible collaboration between UMA, USM and the community colleges in central Maine. With comments by Sylvia Lund, Augusta city councilor; Richard Randall, interim president at UMA; and Peter Thompson, executive director of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce.
