Abstract

Mass.-based entrepreneur Paul Sellew, owner of U.S. Functional Foods, plans to build a 24-acre greenhouse in Madison to grow vine-ripened tomatoes. He wants to counteract "global sourcing," find a regional niche, and offer lower prices by incurring lower transportation costs and taking advantage of Madison Electric Works' low electricity prices. Olivia's Garden at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester also grows and sells greenhouse tomatoes.
