Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Maine's job numbers, noting that there was no net increase in jobs between 2004 and 2005. But Gov. John Baldacci's office, with its eye on this year's election, is comparing labor figures from 2005 to 2003, resulting in a net increase of 22,000 jobs. Rep. Dave Bowles (R-Sanford) expressed concerns that while Maine's job growth was flat, other New England states experienced at least some job growth last year.
