Abstract

An $18.5 billion Wall Street firm, Cerberus Capital Management, has acquired Windham-based Bushmaster Firearms from founder Richard Dyke, 72. Cereberus, which has had a "mind boggling" rise, is politically connected and will likely use those connections to increase Bushmaster's business. Bushmaster posted annual sales of $65 million last year, a figure Dyke expects Cerberus to increase to $250 million. Dyke says the company signed a five-year lease extension, which suggests it will stay in Maine.
