Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Maine's DirigoChoice health insurance program and a compromise measure to continue the program by collecting $23 million from health insurance companies and the self-insured companies through a so-called savings offset payment. Another measure would allow the Dirigo program to become a self-insured company. That bill will likely face amendment attempts to provide for greater oversight by both the Legislature and the Maine Bureau of Insurance.
