Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that legislators recently approved a film tax credit, including a wage tax rebate plan and an income tax rebate for investors in media projects. The state also waives the sales tax on most production items. Jack Cashman, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, said the package Maine offers is attractive when combined with the natural beauty of the state. Cashman said there are several small projects under discussion which he hopes will result in productions in Maine later this year.
