Abstract

The city of Portland hired consultant Sarah Speare to help bring the city's arts district into reality. Her long-range plan calls for the Portland Arts and Cultural Alliance to become a nationally-recongized arts alliance, and for a resource center to coordinate arts district activities. The Portland Museum of Art, whose attendance grew 26 percent last year, is planning several major new shows, and and the Portland Symphony Orchestra will finally be able to return to the refurbished City Hall auditorium.
