Abstract

"Focus on Building & Real Estate" piece on the real estate market decline. Realtors say that fairly-priced houses still sell, but that it takes longer for them to move. Frank O'Hara, a Hallowell-based analyst for the company Planning Decisions, doesn't believe the housing economy is leading Maine into a recession as some analysts predict. Moody's Economy.com predicts a price decline in the Portland area of 5.9 percent. The statewide foreclosure rate was 171 percent higher in September than in September 2005. With graphs illustrating statewide home sales and median home prices in 2005 and 2006.
