Abstract

"Business Maine: Midcoast & Downeast" piece reporting that Bar Harbor-based Jackson Laboratory, a genetics research institution, recently said it has launched a company called Bar Harbor Biotechnology, its first commercial venture. The company will make specialized plates to help laboratory workers and researchers detect detailed genetic profiles of biological samples. Jackson Lab predicts the start-up, which began with a workforce of four, will be valued at $50 million within five years.
