Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that the Maine Supreme Judicial Court recently upheld the state Workers' Compensation Board's narrow decision that a rule requiring employees to immediately report workplace accidents violates a provision of state law designed to protect workers from discrimination. Peter Gore of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, worries about the "ambiguous" rules. The case, Shaver v. Poland Spring Bottling Co., generated considerable press interest, with legal briefs filed by the chamber and the Maine AFL-CIO.
