Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that state corporate income taxes dropped by 38 percent in December and are continuing to fall behind projections, resulting in a $9 million gap in state revenues for the first six months of the fiscal year. Becky Wyke, Finance commissioner, said it is a relatively small amount but it is being examined carefully. Mike Allen, research director of Maine Revenue Services, said he cannot explain the difference between corporate income tax revenues and projected estimates.
