Abstract

"Focus on Northern Maine" piece on Greenville, where lack of snow in the winter of 2005-06 kept the essential snowmobiler trade away. In 2005, NH-based New Energy Capital bought Greenville Steam and brought in 80 workers to complete a $10 million retrofit of the biomass boiler, offsetting the town's economic slump. New Energy Capital is betting on the renewable energy market in the Northeast and boasts one of the cleanest woodburning plants in the nation. The company also brought 23 substantial jobs to town.
