Abstract

"Focus: Building & Real Estate" piece on Cianbro Corp., which last month announced it will open a module construction facility at the former Eastern Fine Paper mill in Brewer, employing at least 500 people. Pete Vigue, CEO of Cianbro, said the Brewer Module Facility will construct building parts, or modules, then ship them by barge to clients in Canada, Europe and the Gulf Coast. Scott Morrison, the company's vice president, said the $10 million to $15 million cost of preparing the Brewer site for modular construction will be a good investment. With comments by Kathleen Newman, president of the Maine chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors; D'Arcy Main-Boyington, Brewer's economic development director; and Alan Burton, vice president of human resources at Cianbro.
