Abstract

Results of the Strategic Marketing Services Omnibus Poll on the Maine economy. Most of those surveyed believe the Maine economy is headed in the right direction and report their economic situation has not changed much. They oppose off-track gambling; favor a general election for Maine Constitutional Officers; rate Governor King "good;" want lower Maine taxes, especially local property taxes; believe credit unions should pay tax; prefer a 2008 decommissioning of Maine Yankee nuclear power plant; favor turnpike widening; oppose the proposed Blue Cross/Blue Shield partnership with hospitals; and favor private school vouchers, learning standards, the chickadee/"Vacationland" license plate, legalized medical marijuana, and physician-assisted death.
