Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Joy Piscopo, 67, co-owner with her husband, Jack, of F.O. Bailey Antiquarians in Falmouth, the oldest continually run business in the state. The Piscopos, nearing retirement, plan to change with the times and close their showroom, while continuing as an appraisal, auction and private brokerage. Piscopo believes young shoppers are turning to Internet sites like eBay and not spending as much time exploring antique stores. Her observations are in keeping with national trends, which have seen local antique dealerships closing.
