Abstract

"Focus on Building & Real Estate" piece on the completion of Olympia Development's $10 million Custom House Square office building in Portland, under president Jim Brady. The building, with its glass and copper facade, rests on 20-foot pillars in an area where Portland Harbor was filled in. Olympia is developing almost an entire city block and built a business condo to suit its first tenant, the Council for International Educational Exchange. The company, a subsidiary of Portland-based The Olympia Companies, navigated strict historic preservation guidelines while working in a tight urban setting.
