Abstract

"Focus: Lewiston-Auburn" piece featuring an interview in question-and-answer format with Dan Guerin, president of Auburn-based Maine Oxy, which has grown into a leading distributor of welding supplies and industrial and specialty gases. The company produces gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and argon for uses in the welding and industrial fields, and other specialty gases for use in biotech labs. In 2000, Maine Oxy opened the New England School of Metalworking in Auburn, offering blacksmithing and welding classes. Last month, the school launched its Mobile Weld Training Center designed to give manufacturers an easier way to get their employees necessary training.
