Abstract

"Focus: Lewiston-Auburn" piece on results of a study of gross domestic product growth by metropolitan areas, reporting that Lewiston-Auburn's GDP grew more than Portland and Bangor metropolitan areas from 2001 to 2005. Lewiston-Auburn saw the biggest GDP gains in manufacturing, which grew 29.7 percent to $488 million over the time period; health care, growing 23.3 percent to $401 million; real estate rental and leasing, growing 35 percent to $315 million; and transportation and warehousing, growing 7.2 percent to $89 million.
